Installation Help
For towel racks, hooks, toilet paper holders, towel rings, and toothbrush holders
What wall types do Autumn Alley products work with?
Our hardware mounts to drywall, tile, and wood. For drywall, we recommend hitting a stud where possible. If you’re mounting between studs, use drywall anchors — these are included with most of our hardware pieces. For tile, use a tile drill bit and tile-rated anchors.
What’s included — do I need to buy anything extra?
All mounting hardware (screws and anchors) is included. You’ll need a screwdriver and optionally a level. A drill is helpful for tile installations.
The mounting bracket won’t stay flush against the wall.
This usually means the wall surface is uneven or the anchor isn’t seated fully. Try tapping the anchor flush with a hammer before inserting the screw. For tile, make sure the anchor is rated for tile and fully expanded. If it still won’t seat, email us with a photo.
The set screw is stuck or stripped.
Use a hex/Allen key that fits snugly. If the screw is already stripped, a rubber band between the key and screw often gives enough grip to break it free. Need a replacement screw? Contact us — we’ll send one at no charge.
How do I measure the right bar length for my space?
Measure the clear wall space between obstructions (door frames, cabinets, switches). Our adjustable-length bars have a min/max range listed on the product page. Leave at least 2 inches of clearance on each side.
The towel bar wobbles after installation.
Check that the set screws on the end caps are fully tightened and the wall anchors are fully expanded. A small amount of flex is normal in adjustable-length bars — it won’t affect function or durability.
How much weight can the hooks hold?
Our robe and towel hooks are rated for robes, towels, and similar soft goods — typically up to 10–15 lbs per hook when properly mounted into a stud or with appropriate anchors.
Items keep sliding off the hook.
Make sure the hook is mounted so the tip points slightly upward. If items still slip, the hook arm may not be fully seated in the base — press firmly until you hear a click.
Finish & Color Questions
What to expect from each Autumn Alley finish
The finish looks different from the photos — is my item correct?
Monitor calibration and lighting can make finishes look different on screen vs. in person. Our antique gold reads warmer and softer in real life. If you believe the finish is genuinely defective (flaking, uneven coating, rust), send us a photo and we’ll make it right.
Will the finish rust or tarnish over time?
Our hardware is finished to resist rust in normal bathroom conditions. To extend finish life, avoid prolonged exposure to standing water and dry any splashes. Use a damp cloth only — no abrasive cleaners.
Can I mix pieces from different Autumn Alley collections?
Yes — pieces within the same finish family are designed to coordinate. Make sure you’re matching within the same finish (e.g. both antique gold, not one galvanized and one gold).
Sizing & Fit
Making sure the product works for your space
Where do I find exact dimensions for my product?
All dimensions are listed on the product page or in a product image under “Product Information.” For wall-mounted pieces, note the difference between overall width and wall-plate width. Can’t find what you need? Email us with your product name and the measurement you’re looking for.
Will a standard toilet paper roll fit my holder?
All of our toilet paper holders accommodate standard rolls. Our wider-bar designs also fit mega and jumbo rolls — this is noted in the listing if applicable.
The product is a different size than I expected.
If the dimensions on the listing matched what you received, the item is correct as described. For a different size, initiate an exchange through your Amazon order. If you believe the listing dimensions were inaccurate, let us know — we take listing accuracy seriously.
